Shane thinks we need BAs

A friend of mine has just published an article in Software Magazine.  So I thought I would make a lazy re-entry to the blogoshere by putting in a link.

Shane espouses the view that even on Agile projects, it is a good idea to use business analysts (BAs).

Interestingly there are a few responses to his article that suggest people think BAs are an odd idea, or even a potential obstacle.  Their view may be that anyone can ask someone what they want, and all the BA does is to become a middleman (or woman) who drinks lattes and keeps developers from talking to the business directly.

While I am a fan of latte drinking (and beverage consumption in general) I have found that sometimes having someone good at asking questions is a benefit to the project – let me know what you think.

About James King

I coach organisations in how to better make use of the untapped talent they have in their people and to explore new ways of understanding and solving new and old problems I live in Sydney with my wife and daughter and have no real hobbies beyond the usual boring ones of reading, writing and watching tv.
